Miami

Your Guide:
Manny Huerta

I am a two-time Olympian triathlete (London 2012 & Rio 2016). Even though I retired as a professional Triathlete after my last Olympic Games I still compete as an amateur athlete recently qualifying for the 2021 Ironman Hawaii World Championships. With more than 30 years of experience in multisport, I decided to inspire and pass along my knowledge and motivation to others, and I now have several kids, adults, and elite athletes not only in South Florida but worldwide as well.

The City

Miami is one of the world’s most popular vacation spots. Though destinations often are said to offer something for everyone, the Miami area does indeed offer multiple enticements for everyone. The trendy nightlife of South Beach bejeweled by the eye candy of the Art Deco district. The bustle of Calle Ocho and the highly caffeinated energy of Little Havana. The plush hotels of Miami Beach and the historic hideaways of Coral Gables. Seemingly endless shopping opportunities in modern, sprawling malls and the quiet, personal attention offered by the family-owned shops of Coconut Grove and many other corners of the region. The lures of deep-sea fishing, golf, tennis, and of course running.

Run Routes

Our ambassadors have spent years logging in thousands of miles around their cities. Often routes you will never find anywhere else. We have asked them when they can throw in some more untraditional routes, routes that only the locals know.

Eat & Stay

The locals know what’s good, and we want something that will nourish us but also be substantial to fuel us through our workouts. We asked our runners to pick out places where the locals eat.

Hotels- great gym, maybe a lap pool, and comfortable beds, and of course good runs nearby.

5 Questions with Manny Huerta

What your perfect run?

I like to start my long run in Vizcaya (Coconut Grove) hit Brickell Avenue cross the bridge to downtown and run towards Biscayne Avenue, from there I run in front of Bayside and the Miami Heat Arena, hit the Venetian island all the way to Miami Beach and back the same way about 20-25km run. Park, Auckland Domain and Waterfront.

Greatest achievement to date?

Qualifying for two Olympic Games.

What's great about running in Miami?

Miami does not have many running trails but we have plenty of beaches with hard sand to run and many roads that are runners friendly.

Key Biscayne, you can start at the toll booth in Brickell/ Coconut Grove and run along the running trail on the Rickenbacker all the way to the Light House park at the end of the Island, with plenty of bathrooms and water fountains along the way.
